Decide early on whether you’re building a business to last or building one to sell. Not everyone is meant to create a legacy company—some people excel at building businesses to exit.
Also, find a mentor as early as possible. And be clear about whether you truly need a partner. Don’t make the mistake of founding a business with someone who has the same skill set as you. Only partner with someone whose strengths complement your own.
